Overview: Keney Park Sustainability is seeking a Wood Materials Management Assistant to join our team and contribute to our mission of promoting sustainability in Keney Park. As a Wood Materials Management Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the responsible use and conservation of wood materials within our organization.

Supervision: The Wood Materials Management Coordinator will report to the Executive Director of Keney Park Sustainability Project.

Responsibilities:

  1. Wood Inventory Management:
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of wood materials, including tracking usage, stock levels, and replenishment needs.
    • Implement efficient systems for the storage and organization of wood materials.
  1. Resource Conservation:
    • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for reducing waste and promoting sustainable wood usage.
    • Implement strategies to ensure the responsible and efficient use of wood resources.
  2. Vendor and Supplier Coordination:
    • Liaise with wood suppliers and vendors to ensure the ethical sourcing of materials.
    • Negotiate pricing and contracts to maximize value for the organization.
  3. Educational Initiatives:
    • Develop educational materials and workshops to raise awareness about responsible wood management.
    • Supervise paid on-the-job training opportunities, including pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships
    • Expand workforce development pathways for green careers in urban and community forestry.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in wood materials management or related fields preferred.
  • Knowledge of sustainable forestry practices and wood conservation.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Pay rate: $25/per hour
